overview
This page explains how to request deletion of your hivemind account and personal data. Hivemind is an anonymous, location-based social app developed by hivemind. We are committed to honoring every deletion request promptly and transparently.
how to delete your account
You have two ways to permanently delete your hivemind account and data:
option 1 — delete directly in the app (recommended)
The fastest way to delete your account is from within the hivemind app:
- Open the hivemind app on your device.
- Tap your profile icon to open your profile.
- Tap Settings (gear icon).
- Scroll down and tap Delete Account.
- Read the confirmation prompt and tap Confirm Delete.
Your account and all associated data will be permanently deleted immediately upon confirmation.
option 2 — submit a deletion request by email
If you are unable to access the app, you can submit a request by email:
- Send an email to deleteinfo@gethivemind.net.
- Use the subject line: "Account Deletion Request".
- Include the email address associated with your hivemind account.
- Optionally include your username or approximate signup date to help us verify your identity.
We will verify your identity, process the deletion, and send you a confirmation email. Requests are completed within 5–7 business days.

what data is deleted
When your account deletion is processed, the following data is permanently and irreversibly deleted from hivemind systems:
- account credentials — your email address and hashed password
- profile data — username, bio, avatar, and any other profile information
- posts and comments — all content you have created on hivemind
- images and media — all photos or files you have uploaded
- location history — location data collected while using the app
- interaction history — votes, reactions, and activity logs tied to your account
- device information — device identifiers and push notification tokens associated with your account
- verification records — identity verification status (if applicable)
what data may be retained and why
Certain limited data may be retained after deletion for legitimate legal, safety, or operational purposes:

Any retained data is stored securely, accessed only when legally required, and deleted as soon as its retention purpose expires.
important notes
- Deletion is permanent. Once deleted, your account and data cannot be recovered. You will need to create a new account if you wish to use hivemind again.
- Content visibility. Posts or comments that have already been seen by other users may exist in those users' local device caches temporarily, but will no longer be served from our servers.
- Third-party services. If you used a third-party identity verification service (e.g., Stripe Identity) during signup, please refer to their policies for data they may hold independently.
